Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” NIV
Stress; It Happens
Recently I was stressing. I am in a book contest and the competition is stiff. I know this because I sat through several book pitches with the other authors. I just started writing this book in November during Thanksgiving break. Some of the other authors have been working for three years or more. Some of them are already published. There is a whole list of things required with the book proposal including social media and a website. I did not have either of these things. I took the first step in the competition and started a Facebook page and a Blog. I wasn’t sure that I was going to go to the next level.
I made it to the next level. Last week I only had six weeks left to get a website and a twitter account going. I was feeling totally stressed out. Someone came to my door. A lady asked, “Do you know Jesus?” I politely told her, “Yes I do.” She said, “A lot of people say they know Jesus but don’t understand Him.” I assured her, “I have a personal relationship with God and I am very happy with my spiritual home.” She asked, “Can I read this one verse to you?” I said, “Okay.” She proceeded to read Philippians 4:6-7. I told her, “Thank you very much, I really appreciate that.” I really was talking to God and her. I felt like for whatever reason He wanted me to hear his word right at that moment. She asked if she could come in or come back. I said, “No thank you.” I feel this kind Jehovah Witness was a conduit for God at that moment in my life.
When she left I took a moment to pray. I immediately felt at peace. A Doris Day song came to my mind…”Que Sera, Sera, whatever will be, will be.” I just went back to what I was doing but in peace this time.
Within thirty minutes I received a call from Shelly Brown who owns SocialBugMedia.com. I had messaged her on Facebook that I needed help with my blog and twitter. I had attended three lectures she had given in January in Atlanta. She called and said that she not only could help me with Twitter and my blog but, she could set up my website. She said she had read my blog and she believed in what I was doing and would start working on it on the following Monday. Exactly one week later I had a beautiful web page all linked with social media and my blog.
I have tears of joy just thinking about this. I believe this is a miracle. I can’t even tell you what a relief this was to me. I feel that God sent the nice Jehovah Witness to my door to give me a message to stop stressing and to give my problems over to Him. When I did, I felt peace immediately. Then he sent Shelly Brown to just take care of my source of stress.
This whole miracle just reinforces the fact that this book is really God’s to do with as He pleases. If I get a publishing contract it will be because that was in His story for this book. I have just been a conduit of a message. When I look at it like that I can see that the right people will come at the right time and things will be taken care of. I really do not need to stress. I only need to give thanks for the blessings that I have been honored to receive and show up to do my part.
Question: Have you been trying to “handle” problems by yourself?
